Tabayyanu: Journal of Islamic Law
Tabayyanu: Journal of Islamic Law is an open-access academic journal that publishes scholarly studies on Islamic law from diverse theoretical, normative, and empirical perspectives. The journal is dedicated to advancing academic discussions on Islamic law and its dynamic relationship with Muslim societies, institutions, and contemporary social realities.
Published twice a year, Tabayyanu: Journal of Islamic Law places Islamic law and Muslims at the center of academic inquiry. The journal welcomes comprehensive and critical studies that examine Islam as a legal tradition, a normative system, and a framework of social life, as well as studies of Muslims as individuals and communities who interpret and practice Islamic teachings in diverse historical, social, cultural, and legal contexts.
The scope of the journal encompasses a broad range of issues related to Islamic law, both normative and empirical, as well as classical and contemporary studies. It welcomes textual studies based on the Qur'an, Hadith, classical and contemporary Islamic legal literature, as well as fieldwork and socio-legal research examining the implementation, development, and transformation of Islamic law in Muslim societies. Contributions may employ interdisciplinary approaches, including Islamic legal studies, fiqh, usul al-fiqh, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, comparative law, socio-legal studies, legal anthropology, Islamic studies, and other relevant approaches.
Tabayyanu: Journal of Islamic Law publishes scholarly articles in two languages: Indonesian and English. The use of both languages is intended to accommodate national and international scholars, broaden academic engagement, and facilitate the dissemination of research on Islamic law to a wider scholarly community.
The journal particularly welcomes original research articles that contribute to the development of Islamic legal scholarship, address emerging issues in Islamic law, and offer critical perspectives on the interaction between Islamic legal principles and contemporary legal and social developments.
